Suncoast Credit Union announced Tuesday that it had reached 1 million members in December.
The Tampa, Florida-based credit union was the tenth credit union to hit the 1 million membership mark, including two other fast-growing credit unions that it hit last year.
Suncoast welcomed its 1 millionth member, Ferzeda Richardson, to its Big Bend Service Center in Riverview on December 29th. She was personally greeted by President / CEO Kevin Johnson, who congratulated her on her unique status and presented her with a check for $ 1,000.
“This is an exciting milestone in Suncoast’s 88-year history, made possible by the 2,100 team members who work for our members every day,” said Johnson. “Suncoast is not only characterized by the number of members. We stand out for the service and culture that brought us there. “
To celebrate all members, Suncoast is launching its One Million Reasons to Celebrate campaign. The quarterly event includes Thanks-a-Million Thursdays; a pop-up event that takes place every Thursday in all branches. Weekly in-store celebrations run from January 20th to March 31st and include refreshments, giveaways and raffles. The celebration will also include other offers such as referral for new and existing members.
Suncoast was founded in 1934 by nine local educators who believed that teachers deserve financial products and services that meet their needs as civil servants. Today, Suncoast is the largest credit union in Florida, has 75 offices, and is one of the largest not-for-profit employers in the Tampa Bay area with more than 2,100 team members.
Suncoast was ranked in the top 10 credit unions for the past several years based on asset size. In September, it ranked 11th with assets of $ 14.3 billion, up 18.9% from last year.
