State of emergency in Idaho must end

America is coming back from restrictive Covid shutdowns. Idaho is currently in the fourth phase of the recovery process. Our hospitals are in good shape and more Idahoans are still receiving the vaccine. Do you feel like we are in a state of emergency?

Idaho is the place in America. So why not declare the end of the state of emergency? Many Idahoans remain concerned about the loss of individual freedoms they have suffered over the past year. In addition, the state has a record amount of money, so why not give power back to the people?

The federal government controls roughly 60% of our land, which means we cannot tax this land and we must get federal permits to use this land. As long as we are in a state of emergency, the federal government dictates how they use their money. Several sources have told us that the money will be lost once the state of emergency is officially declared over.

Is it all about the money? The gem state doesn’t need the money or the instructions from the federal government. Anyone with common sense can see the dark days of the virus in Idaho are over. In the case of recurrence, we can declare another state of emergency at any time.

The governor’s exercise of power was a sensitive issue during last year’s term. He held a press conference with his four predecessors to influence voters and lawmakers not to pass laws that would curtail his powers. He vetoed laws that restricted his powers and the legislature could not override them.

Governor Little could take a major step towards restoring public confidence by boldly telling the federal government to keep their bribe and end the state of emergency in Idaho.
