Ronald Thomas Laszewski, 71, from Lewisburg, died on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, in his home with his wife by his side.
He was born on September 22, 1949 in Johnson City, New York, to the late Lewis and Mary (Grodecki) Laszewski. On August 18, 1973, he married the former Donna Drews, who survived. Together they celebrated 47 years of marriage.
Ronald graduated from Maine-Endwell High School in Endwell, NY. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Colgate University and his master’s degree from the University of Vermont. Ronald worked for many years as the Director of Financial Aid at Bucknell University. He later worked for Financial Aid Services, an Atlanta higher education consultancy. In this role, he advised colleagues and brought order out of the chaos at colleges and universities across the country.
He was a member and past president of the Pennsylvania Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (PASFAA). Ron was passionate about politics and served as chairman of the Union County Democratic Committee and a member of the Pennsylvania State Democratic Committee. He was also President and Founding Treasurer of the Federal Credit Union for Employees at Bucknell University.
Ronald was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Bucknell Golf Club. What he lacked in golf talent, he made up for with enthusiasm. He loved the camaraderie of playing golf with his friends. As a dedicated duffer, he was particularly proud of his three holes-in-one.
Ron was perhaps happiest in the Adirondack Mountains, where he sat by the lake, watched the hummingbirds and listened to the calls of the loons.
For his family he was our rock and safe haven. Friends and colleagues valued his loyalty and integrity. We were all spoiled with his dry sense of humor. Ron was a good and decent man.
In addition to his wife, survive a son, Matthew Laszewski of Colorado; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Becky Laszewski, from South Carolina; a nephew, Richard, from New York; and a niece, Linda, also from New York.
The family thanks our great group of carers who were there for us every day.
A funeral service will be held in Lewisburg Cemetery on Thursday, July 8th at 2 p.m. with Father Matthew Larlick as minister.
The family is supported by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Street, Lewisburg.
