An 11-year-old girl from Nacogdoches who had been reported missing since early Sunday was found. Alyssa Collins has been found safely, according to a Facebook post by the Nacogdoches Police Department. Based on leads from Nacogdoches police detectives, Alyssa was killed on Wednesday the 23rd. This was the result of hard work by the NPD criminal police determined to reunite Alyssa with her family.
Earlier reports said the young girl fled her apartment on the 700 block of East Lane Street in Nacogdoches in the early hours of June 20.
Several Facebook posts from the girl’s mother had indicated that the missing child’s phone was pinged in the San Antonio area as early as the evening of June 20-mile radius. Officials had gone door-to-door in the area trying to find evidence of the case. Authorities once pursued the possibility of issuing an Amber Alert to Alyssa, but one was never distributed.
The Nacogdoches Police Department would like to thank the San Antonio Police Department, the Texas Rangers, the Nacogdoches Community, and many others for their help in getting Alyssa Collins home safe. Investigations into how the girl was able to travel to San Antonio are ongoing. Further updates will be released as soon as details are known.
