Kenneth Lee Norton, a lifelong resident of Fairfield, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2022 with his family by his side.
A memorial service is scheduled for September 10 at 2:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, led by Rev. Heidi Williams. To celebrate Ken’s life, there will be a 3-5 p.m. service after the service at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center
Kenny is survived by his beloved wife Sharon Norton, with whom he was 57; daughter Lori Pacha (Rick) of Coralville, Iowa; granddaughters, Chloe Pacha, Carbondale, CO, and Olivia Pacha Salt Lake City, UT; sister, Connie Clark-Louderback (Nick) of Oskaloosa; nephew, Anthony Ehlers of Altoona; Sister of Honour, Deborah Carlsen, Plymouth, MN; niece, Jaclyn Carlsen, Plymouth, MN and South Africa Molly, his trusty springer spaniel; and many cousins.
Kenny enjoyed many things, music, gardening, cooking, golfing and spending time with friends and family. Playing drums in the Fairfield Community Band and the Fairfield All Star Jazz Band brought him so much joy. He was involved in many community organizations, was a founding member of the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center and a member of the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield.
Kenny loved retirement but continued to serve his community. He drove a school bus for the Fairfield Community School District, which he became very fond of in his later years. Ken has spent most of his professional life in menswear sales and marketing for Robert Bruce Sportswear. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1962 and continued his education at Parsons College.
Kenny had a special way of making everyone feel welcome and like family. Generous and friendly. Even as he faced many health challenges he did so with dignity and courage, he had an amazing way of staying positive throughout this long journey. In the end, he continued to teach us all that life goes on and to celebrate every day. His legacy will live on in all of us and we will miss him dearly.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Eloise Norton and Verle Norton.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Lutheran Church of Fairfield, Fairfield Arts & Convention Center, and Hospice Compasses of Washington. Cards and keepsakes can be mailed to Sharon Norton, 1001 E Harrison, Fairfield, IA 52556.
