With some celebrations canceled or restricted in 2021 due to COVID-19, several cities are poised to bring back their annual Independence Day fun and games.
Live music, parades, water ski shows, hot dog eating contests and fireworks are just a few of the celebrations that take place over this long weekend.
Check out the list of events below to find out where to put your lawn chair to see the night sky light up.
Zephyrhill’s Summer Festival – Zephyr Hill
Zephyrhills Summerfest returns to Zephyr Park this year from 12pm-9pm with local food trucks and restaurants, cold treats, lemonade, a performance by DJ Emcee and live bands. There will be a kids’ zone, bouncy castles, water slides, cool-down activities, family games and a 30-minute fireworks display over Zephyr Lake after dark.
The fourth at St. Pete Pier (July 2-4) – St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg is hosting a three-day Independence Day celebration with a wide range of activities at various locations around the city, including the inaugural St. Pete Pier Run, Silent Disco, Gulp Coast Craft Beer Garden, Food Trucks and Vendors, a pie-eating contest, Live -Music on the Visit St. Pete Clearwater Main Stage, karaoke, itinerant entertainers and more. The traditional 4th of July fireworks show takes place on 4th July at 9pm and will be viewable from the entire downtown waterfront.
Rocking Freedom Festival – Winter Haven
the dr Martin Luther King Jr. Park will host the Rockin’ Freedom Fest from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The festival begins with a rededication ceremony of the newly renovated park, then live music by the Bay Kings Band, along with food trucks, a ski show in honor of the water skiing 100 year anniversary and fireworks.
3rd of July
NBP fireworks on the lake -Sarasota
Sarasota is hosting its Fourth of July event at Nathan Benderson Park with live music, family fun and fireworks starting just after 9 p.m. Optionally, event-goers can pay a registration fee and participate in a Fireworks 4-Miler, where runners and hikers can follow a four-mile course around the park’s competition lake before sunset. Gates open at 5pm and music starts at 5:30pm. Admission is free if you park with a ticket, and classic American fare and drinks are available for purchase.
Hometown USA – Dunedin
Dunedin Parks & Recreation is hosting its 4th of July Celebration at the TD Ballpark with gates opening at 7pm. The Bay Kings Band will perform from 7pm to 10:45pm, with a fireworks break at 9pm, a screening of Angels in the Outfield begins at 7:15pm and the fireworks show begins at 9:15pm. The event is free to attend and discounts are available.
Red, White & Kaboom – Zealand
The Red, White & Kaboom Independence Celebration takes place at Lake Mirror along Frances Langford Promenade from 6pm to 9pm with performances by Andrew Luv & the franchise players before the fireworks display begins at 9pm. Event sponsors are asking all attendees to donate a canned food to benefit volunteers serving the elderly.
boom at the bay – Tampa
Tampa is hosting a Fourth of July extravaganza with five different venues starting at different times of the day and three different fireworks venues. The day’s celebrations include live music and entertainment, food trucks, a water ski show, a family fun area, a kids’ zone, a hot dog eating contest and the Friends of the Riverwalk July 4th Boat Parade and Blessing of the Fleet. Boom on the Bayshore, the largest fireworks display, begins at 7:00 p.m. on Bayshore Boulevard just south of the Davis Islands Bridge.
Clearwater celebrates America – Clear water
Clearwater Independence Day celebrations begin at 6:00 p.m. at BayCare Ballpark with a concert by the Black Honkeys Band, giveaways and activities for children of all ages. The event ends at 9:15 p.m. with a musically choreographed fireworks display. Admission is $5, and adult dining and beverage discounts are available for purchase.
Fourth of July picnic in the park – Tarpon Springs
The City of Tarpon Springs is hosting its annual Fourth of July Picnic in the Park at the Craig Park Hot Dog Eating Contest from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm 16+. The fireworks show begins around 8:30pm and the best viewing area is Fred Howard Park.
Celebrate America – July 4th Fireworks – Treasure Island
Fireworks will begin at 9:00 p.m. on the beach near Gulf Front Park
4th of July fireworks – Largo
Largo Central Park features live music and fireworks from 6:00 p.m. The line-up includes Dave Matthews Acoustic Tribute at 6:30 p.m., Florida Man Band at 7:45 p.m. and Indian Rocks Baptist Church Choir at 9:00 p.m. The event is free with food and drink vendors on site and limited on-site parking for $10.
Independence Day celebration – Palmetto Bay
A 4th of July Celebration will be held at Palmetto Bay Village Hall from 6pm to 9pm with various food vendors, face painting, stilt walkers, live bands, LED robots and a free toddler fun zone with inflatable boats. A 15-minute fireworks show with musical accompaniment will start at 9 p.m. at Palmetto Bay Park
Palmetto Four of July Festival – Palmette
Neal McCoy will headline this year’s festival at Sutton Park which starts at 7pm with opener Lazy Bonez performing at 5pm. Fireworks provided through a partnership between Brandenton, Manatee County and Palmetto will follow the concert. The concert and fireworks are free to the public, and local food and drink vendors will be available.
Independence Day celebration – Temple terrace
The City of Temple Terrace hosts its 47th Annual Independence Day Celebration. Celebrations include music by Charlie Imes & the Sun Dogs, roaming entertainment by magician Cory Van Valin, and a parade that begins at Whiteway & Gillette and ends at the Little League Baseball field.
4th of July Parade & Celebration – Security port
The American Legion Post 238 will hold a patriotic parade down Main Street on the morning of July 4th from 10am to 12pm. Complimentary snow cones, water, juice, cookies and popcorn will be provided, as well as live patriotic music and presentations. From 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Safety Harbor will host its Fourth of July celebrations at Waterfront Park. There will be children’s activities, live entertainment, food vendors and fireworks starting at 9pm
City of Gulfport July 4th Celebration – Gulfport
The City of Gulfport has scheduled an all-day Independence Day celebration from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the Downtown Waterfront District. Events include a children’s fishing derby, a family sand sculpting contest, a parade down Beach Boulevard at 6:00 p.m., music by the New Horizons Band from 7:00 p.m. and a fireworks show at 9:00 p.m
Lakeland Flying Tigers fireworks extravaganza on July 4th – Zealand
The Flying Tigers’ annual Independence Day fireworks display returns this year. Game time is 5pm and after the game the Sofa Kings will entertain with live music (time permitting) followed by a fireworks show. Baseball game tickets cost $7 and $10.
Celebration on July 4th – Plant city
The City of Plant City is hosting their free event on July 4th at Plant City Stadium with $5 parking fees. Activities include corn holes, balloon art, face painting, inflatable boats, a rock wall and tug of war. There will be concession stands, food vendors, a 50-50 drawing, stage entertainment and a fireworks show to end the evening. The stadium gates open at 6:00 p.m. and the fireworks display begins at 9:15 p.m
