Brian Laundrie flew alone from Utah to Florida in the middle of his cross-country road trip with his fiancée Gabby Petito to “get some items” and “empty and close” a storage unit, a Laundrie family attorney confirmed Tuesday.
Laundrie flew from Salt Lake City to Tampa on Aug. 17 and later returned to Salt Lake City on Aug. 23 to “meet up” Petito on the couple’s “van-life” road trip, attorney Steven Bertolino told Insider .
“To the best of my knowledge, Brian and Gabby paid for the flights because they shared the expenses,” Bertolino said.
Laundrie traveled to Florida “to get some items and to empty and close the storage space to save money as they were considering extending the road trip,” Bertolino said.
When asked where the storage unit was located, Bertolino Insider said he had “no idea”.
It is late August when authorities have said they believe Petito, 22, was killed.
Her body was discovered in a remote campsite in Bridger-Teton National Forest, Wyoming, on September 19, eight days after Petito’s mother reported her missing to New York police.
Petito’s death was classified as a homicide.
Laundrie, 23, returned on Jan.
He was named a Person of Interest in connection with Petito’s Disappearance and Death.
Laundrie’s family reported him missing to authorities on September 17, and he remains the subject of a massive FBI-led manhunt.
He was charged with bank fraud on September 23.
