A family in Hyderabad commits suicide by jumping into Kurmalguda Lake – The New Indian Express

HYDERABAD: Four family members died by suicide in Kurmalguda near Adibatla of Rachakonda Commissariat in a shocking incident. Santosh Nagar victims in the city jumped into Lake Kurmalguda.

Police suspect they took the extreme step for financial reasons. The bodies of the couple and their children were recovered from the lake and taken for autopsy, said Fr. Narender, inspector of Adibatla. The victims are identified as Quddus Pasha, his wife Fathima Begum, their daughters Firdouse Begum and Kheman Begum.

Police found that the family had previously resided at Shaheen Nagar near Kurmalguda, Fatima’s childhood home. A few months ago they moved to the city to earn a living. Investigations revealed that the couple had fallen out over a minor financial matter on Monday night and rode away from home on bicycles with their children.

Meanwhile, locals saw a couple and their children jumping into the lake near Kurmalguda Lake late at night and alerted the police.

Their bodies were recovered around midnight. With the help of a bicycle found near the lake, police identified Quddus and contacted his family members and also identified his family members. A case has been registered and further investigations are underway, the police said.
