On August 25, 2010, the suspect in the armed robbery of a Columbia County Exxon store was arrested in Hillsborough County.
Larry J. Marcell was arrested by the United States Marshals Service, acting on an arrest warrant issued by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. The Exxon store at U.S. 441 in Ellisville was robbed by a rifle-toting man on August 22.
A similar robbery had occurred earlier in the evening in Hamilton County. The man robbed a local motel and was armed with a shotgun. The robber’s description and vehicle information were identical to the Columbia County case.
Detective Todd Green with the Columbia County Sheriff’s worked closely with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office to link these robberies.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is holding Larry Marcell, 31, of Louisville, KY. He is being held without bond, pending his transport to Hamilton County.
Detective Green has filed for an arrest warrant for Marcell for the robbery of the Exxon store. The U.S. Marshals Service was able to recover a shot gun and clothing from the robberies when Marcell was arrested.
