Hailey Bevis of Tallahassee dies in crash on I-75

Hailey Kate Bevis, 22, of Tallahassee, died when her Honda Civic went off the road Friday, August 30, at 8:40 p.m.

She was driving north on Interstate 75 when the car began to rotate at the 431 mile marker, north of the Lake City exit.

FHP Cpl. K. M. Boatright reports that the car left the east side of the road and traveled down an embankment.

While traveling down the embankment, the rear of the car struck a tree before coming to final rest facing east on the grass shoulder. She was using a seat belt.

The embankment N bound on I-75 just before I-10 is so steep. Hydroplaining even with good rear tires occurs. It happened to me on I -10 in Madison once when I spun 180 degrees and into the center median, but survived without injury. My sympathy to family and friends. May your grieving go gently.
